TALLAHASSEE - TALLAHASSEE - On the final weekend before Wednesday's National Signing Day, Florida State remained hopeful that WR Julio Jones, considered one of the nation's top five recruits by most of the major recruiting services, might still commit to FSU.
Jones, who doesn't plan to make his announcement until Wednesday, is reportedly still considering FSU, Alabama and Oklahoma.
FSU hosted five players over the weekend, including Middleton RB Carlton Jones, who doesn't plan to make his announcement official until Wednesday.
Tallahassee Lincoln DB T.J. Bryant, Madison County DB Travis Arnold, Pensacola DT Anthony Hill and Panama City Bay DT Kyrhi Thornton joined Jones on campus over the weekend. Hill and Arnold have already committed to FSU, although Arnold is expected to enroll at Butler (Kan.) Community College for academic reasons.
Bryant remains one of the highest priorities on FSU's recruiting board. FSU coach Bobby Bowden visited Bryant's Tallahassee home on Friday. Bryant is also considering Miami and Alabama.
STILL IN RUNNING: Hialeah DT Corey Liuget committed to Illinois last fall, but FSU, Miami and LSU continue to put pressure on Liuget to change his commitment. Bowden made a visit to Luiget on Thursday.
FORTSON UPDATE: WR Jarmon Fortson of Columbus, Ga., is reportedly still committed to Auburn. However, Fortson told Rivals.com that FSU is the other school he is considering and that he will announce his final decision on Wednesday.
