TAMPA - Thick fog is expected today and Tuesday, with morning visibility reduced to about one-quarter mile or less, according to the National Weather Service.
"Any low dips near rivers, ponds or lakes will see the most dense fog," said Mike Cantin, a forecaster with the Weather Service in Ruskin.
He said a mixture of fog over land and sea is expected to burn off by 10 a.m. as temperatures climb toward 80 degrees today.
"Some areas it may hang on a little longer," Cantin said.
Today's fog is expected to be thicker than Sunday morning's.
Pasco County deputies and the Florida Highway Patrol closed southbound Interstate 75 at State Road 56 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday. No fog-related accidents were reported.
The highway patrol also issued warnings Sunday afternoon about smoke from two brush fires in Polk County.
"Just be careful in limited visibility," highway patrol Lt. Bruce Doras said.
