LARGO - Deputies are looking for a man who robbed an 80-year-old man whom he knocked unconscious last month, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
The robbery occurred in the 10200 block of Sailwinds Boulevard after midnight Jan. 5. After the robbery, the robber used a credit card in several grocery stores in Pinellas County.
The 80-year-old victim, who was returning home from a local civic club, offered the man a ride to a nearby apartment complex. The robber was walking in the area of 122nd Avenue and 104th Street, investigators said.
Detectives said the victim was hit in the face and knocked unconscious. When he regained consciousness, the victim drove to a relative's house and called deputies. He was treated and released from a hospital.
Detectives have images from surveillance videos of the man making purchases with the victim's credit card.
The robber is a 25- to 30-year-old white man weighing 170 pounds and about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. At the time of the robbery he was clean-shaven with brown hair, which was worn in a crew cut style.
