They said the right things the past two weeks as their perfect season was about to be matched, but somewhere late Sunday night, some members of the 1972 Miami Dolphins, who went 17-0 for the NFL's only unblemished season, were popping champagne and celebrating. Instead of the 2007 Patriots going down as the greatest NFL team of all time, they become another Super Bowl footnote much like the 1968 Baltimore Colts, who were stunned by Joe Namath and the New York Jets in Super Bowl III.
