Regarding "Bay Area Tops For Lead Foot" (front page, Feb. 1):
I have been driving for over 50 years on this country's highways and byways. I had never seen, nor been closely involved in, an accident or multiple-vehicle pileup until a year ago at the intersection of Interstate 75 and Fowler Avenue. How I missed not getting involved in it is beyond me.
My question is this: Why are we allowing vehicles to be made that can do over 75 mph when the only ones that should be allowed are police and emergency vehicles? I thought we were in an energy crunch. We are being told every day to "go green."
Personally, I will never go green until I see Al Gore driving a micro-car.
