ST. PETERSBURG - A man known to authorities has robbed two banks in two days, the latest on Friday afternoon, they say.
The man walked into a Colonial bank at 2646 Fourth St. N. about 2:40 p.m. Friday and handed a teller a note demanding money, said St. Petersburg Police Department spokesman George Kajtsa.
After he got the money, he walked out of the bank, Kajtsa said. No getaway vehicle was seen.
On Thursday, the man robbed a Colonial bank at 5858 Central Ave. about 1:45 p.m., Kajtsa said. As on Friday, he walked in, handed a note to a teller, then fled, Kajtsa said.
In both cases he implied he had a weapon but showed none, Kajtsa said.
Police say the man is Joseph Williams, 37. He is 6 feet tall, weighs 155 pounds and has black close-cut hair. He last was seen wearing a grey polo shirt with the word "chaps" on it.
