TAMPA At least $4,000 in donations have been raised for a reward for information leading to the arrest of those involved in the death of a llama at Gaither High School.
Florida Voices for Animals, designed to which educates people about animal abuse, offered the initial reward after the death of an 8-month-old llama named Adonis. The llama had a fractured skull and died Wednesday in the Gaither High School barn.
Two anonymous donors have each have matched the nonprofit organization's $500 reward. The donors, who wish to remain anonymous, don't know each other and are not Florida Voices for Animals members, the organization said. A third person, Mindi Lasley, donated $1,000.
A $500 reward is being offered through the school's crime watch, and Mitch Lockler and Robin Knapp each put $500 in the Llama Reward/Relief Fund.
People can may donate to the Llama Reward/Relief Fund at Superior Bank in Carrollwood, 13246 N. Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33618.
There were no new developments in the llama investigation, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Adonis was one of about 25 animals living on Gaither's campus and was part of the agricultural department.
