SARASOTA - Police say they have identified the men involved in a deadly shooting at a Sarasota convenience store Monday night.
The two men argued and exchanged gunfire at theKwik Stop convenience store at 3432 N. Tamiami Trail about 9 p.m., witnesses told police.
Jon Teko Howard, 35, died inside the store. The survivor, Paul F. Kallenbach, 41, was standing in the median of North Tamiami Trail, bleeding from two gunshot wounds, when police arrived, authorities said.
Officers disarmed him, and he was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, authorities said. He was charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and discharging a firearm in public.
Detectives are checking a store surveillance camera to see whether reports of two men fleeing the scene are accurate.
A clerk and customer who hid behind a counter during the shooting were not injured.
