ST. PETERSBURG - A 76-year-old St. Pete Beach man was mugged midday Monday in the parking lot of a popular restaurant, police said.
The man got out of his car at Skyway Jack's, 2795 34th St. S., about 2:20 p.m. and was approached by three people, said St. Petersburg Police Department spokesman George Kajtsa.
He was punched in the head and wrestled with one of the attackers before he was punched in the nose and fell, Kajtsa said. The trio took several pieces of jewelry and his cell phone and fled on foot, Kajtsa.
He was transported to Palms of Pasadena Hospital for treatment of lacerations on his head and face, Kajtsa said.
The man was not sure he could identify the attackers, Kajtsa said.
The Tribune is not identifying the victim because the attackers have not been apprehended.
