TAMPA - The Band Aid Bandit's sidekick wants to remove his court-appointed lawyer, according to a filing in federal court.
Emeregildo Roman, 54, of Davenport, is asking the judge to remove Terry Christian as his attorney during the appeal in a motion filed Monday.
Roman writes that Christian refused to discuss strategy before and after the trial and they had no communication before or after the trial.
Roman's brother-in-law, Rafael Rondon, known as the Band-Aid Bandit, was sentenced to 149 1/2 years in prison after being convicted of robbing 39 banks. He wore a bandage to cover a mole during the robberies.
Roman, who served as the getaway driver, was sentenced to 126 years in prison.
Rondon and Roman were convicted in April of conspiring to rob banks across western Florida for six years.
