TAMPA - A car chase that began outside an Ybor City nightclub early Tuesday led Tampa police to recover a stolen gun, according to a report.
Police were monitoring traffic outside of the Live Club on Seventh Avenue when a white 1995 Toyota headed west hit the left-front side of a dark vehicle that slowed down at 26th Street.
The Toyota continued and turned north on 24th Street, police said. Officers stopped the vehicle at 22nd Street and 11th Avenue. Inside, they found two loaded handguns, one of which was reported stolen, according to the report.
The driver, 22-year-old Antawan D. Hudson, of 3421 N. 54th St., was charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license, leaving the scene of an accident, obstruction and giving false information to a law enforcement officer. He is in the Orient Road Jail with no bail set.
Police said one of his passengers, Anthony Lozada, 19, of 3701 N. 51st St., claimed ownership of the handguns. He was charged with grand theft of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and unlawful use of a cancelled license. He is in the Orient Road Jail with bail set at $4,250.
Another passenger, Larry E. Rodgers, was handcuffed at the scene but was not arrested.
