Regarding "2 Commissioners Urge Parks Merger" (Feb. 4):
Mayor Iorio is correct to be concerned at merging parks with the county. This is the same county commission that excluded city residents from the transit committee that almost shifted the transit tax only to city residents, wants to reduce the city's voice on the Tampa Sports Authority while keeping us off the Environmental Protection Commission, withheld funds to fix the Tampa Convention Center roof and often ridicules our city government.
If it is bickering the county wants to put aside, it has to start with the county commission and not the city of Tampa. Too many times they have looked down their collective noses at city residents, who do not always get the fair representation at County Center that we should.
Ferlita and Higginbotham are honorable people and peacemakers. Unfortunately, they are only two out of the seven that go against Tampa more often than not.
