WHAT: Second annual Sinful Sunday concert
WHEN: 2 p.m. Sunday
WHERE: Richey Suncoast Theatre, 6237 Grand Blvd. in downtown New Port Richey (two blocks south of Main Street)
TO BENEFIT: SPCA Suncoast, to help fund emergency medical treatment for animals that otherwise might not get a second chance at life.
WHAT ELSE: There will be a Valentine's-themed VIP party before the concert, also at the theater, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Highlights are a silent auction, a meet and greet with the concert headliners, and a few furry friends from the SPCA's shelter.
THAT'S THE TICKET: For the concert only, admission is $7 in advance, $10 at the door. The VIP tickets, which cover the party and the concert, are $35 and will not be available at the door. Purchase tickets at the Richey Suncoast Theatre box office or by calling (727) 842-6777.
MORE ON THE EVENT: Guests will get a tongue-in-cheek invitation to "atone for their indulgence in sinfully good music" by sponsoring individual pets, purchasing Valentine's adoption gift certificates, bidding on silent auction items and donating pet care supplies.
Currently needed are Nylabone and Kong toys (medium, large and extra large), laundry detergent and other playthings for animals of all sizes.
ABOUT BLACK AND THE BAND: Her music is in the style of blues, jazz and soul greats from the 1930s to the '50s, with influences from many other genres and her personal touches. All music performed for this concert is original.
"We had a fabulous time last year playing to a sold-out show; the audience was really fantastic." Black said in a news release. "As a special thank-you for our SPCA supporters, we have again prepared several new songs to debut just for this performance."
The guys in the band are Michael Johnn, keyboards; Dave Eichenberger, guitar; "Jungle Denny" McCarthy, drums; and "Father" Bill Spicuglia, bass.

PAWS FOR APPRECIATION: "Ms. Black has been very supportive of the SPCA and we are so grateful that she has taken the time to join us in this fundraising effort," board member Lia Gallegos said in the release. "It is a wonderful example of how the arts can bring our community together for a good cause and, at the same time, encourage the growth of our local economy."
SPONSORSHIPS: Information is available at the SPCA's shelter, 7734 Congress St. in New Port Richey, or at www.SPCAsuncoast.org.
ANOTHER WAY TO HELP: "Be My Valentine" - sponsor an animal for one month for $25. Hearts adorned with pet photos will be displayed at the benefit and at the shelter.
ABOUT THE SPCA: The former SPCA of West Pasco, which started in 1964, saves thousands of adoptable pets every year, providing health care, food, a clean place to sleep, affection and attention until they're placed in loving homes. The agency temporarily houses animals that become separated from their families and those given up for a variety of reasons.
The shelter is open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. For details, call (727) 849-1048 or e-mail info@SPCAsuncoast.org.
