FORT LAUDERDALE - Kristen Langermann's goal with 12 seconds remaining lifted Lake Highland Prep past Clearwater Central Catholic 1-0 in a Class 3A girls soccer state semifinal Wednesday at Lockhart Stadium. The Highlanders will play Jacksonville Bolles, a 5-4 winner over Gulliver Prep, for the title today at 5 p.m.
Langermann's chance for the game-winning goal was part luck. She was in the right place when Marauders (15-6-3) keeper Mackenzie Kenner was unable to hold onto a shot by Valorie O'Brien.
The match was evenly played throughout, with few opportunities by either side. The Highlanders (19-4-7) nearly scored in the 75th minute when Jordan Nolette's shot from 25 yards hit the upper right post.
The Highlanders will play in their fourth straight state championship game; they won in 2006 against American Heritage.
