Police: Voyeur Busted At Gym

TAMPA - A 21-year-old Tampa man hid in a women's shower stall at a South Tampa gym so he could watch a woman while she showered, police say.

Officers arrested Robert Angel Johnson at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at Lifestyle Family Fitness, 1510 W. Swann Ave.

The 23-year-old woman noticed Johnson when she bent over to pick up her bottle of liquid soap and saw a pair of black tennis shoes, a Tampa police release states. When she stood up, she saw Johnson peeping through the adjoining shower stall.

She looked him in the eye and asked what he was doing there, according to the release. Johnson ran, and the woman got a towel, ran out of the locker room and identified him as he lifted weights.

Johnson didn't have a gym membership, police say.

A Hillsborough County deputy walking out of the men's locker room detained Johnson until officers arrived.

There were obvious signs that Johnson had been in a women's locker room, a criminal arrest affidavit states.

Johnson, of 1920 E. Emma St., was charged with misdemeanor voyeurism.

He was released after posting $500 bail.
