LAKELAND - The night started with a 10-2 run by Lakeland Christian, with all 10 points scored by senior center Meghan Moore. It ended in a 57-32 Vikings victory over Tampa Prep in the Class 2A-Region 3 quarterfinal.
Moore finished with 30 points and dominated inside, rebounding and blocking shots. Jessica White and Ashley Wilson each added nine points for Lakeland Christian.
"I couldn't have done any of this without my teammates," Moore said. "This was the first time I have ever scored this many points in a single game, and I think that we will continue to play well as a team through the rest of the playoffs."
The Vikings had a 10-point lead at halftime and outscored the Terrapins 22-7 in the third quarter. Lakeland Christian never trailed.
"We were ready to play - we did the same things that we did all week in practice and we were able to execute early in the game and keep a lead," Vikings coach Keith Overholt said. "We played great as a team, and we carried the momentum we had from districts."
Guard Ayala Wasser led the Terrapins with 22 points, while Joselyn Bryant scored four.
