TAMPA - A 20-year-old Tampa woman was arrested early Saturday and charged with child neglect after she left young children alone in her home with the front door wide open, police said.
Patricia Nicole Adams, 8308 N. Alaska St., was being held at Orient Road Jail with bail set at $8,000, jail records show.
A criminal report affidavit says Adams left alone four children under her care at about 2 a.m. with the door to the home wide open, allowing anyone to enter.
It was not clear how long the children - two 2-year-olds, a 5-year-old and a 9-year-old - were left unsupervised. They were found in soiled clothing and living amid garbage, old food, dirty diapers and soiled linen scattered throughout the house, the report reads.
Adams was found with a small bag of marijuana, less than 20 grams, in her front left pocket, the report said. She also was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The report did not specify where Adams was arrested or who was to take care of the children.
