TAMPA - A 21-year-old Tampa man was accused by police of stealing $33,687 worth of electronics and causing about $5,000 in damages to local businesses.
Wildalson Joseph, of 3717 Lowry Court, was charged with multiple counts of burglary, grand theft, petty theft and criminal mischief, according to arrest records.
He is suspected of burglarizing restaurants and rental centers in Tampa and Brandon on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and taking flat-screen televisions and computer equipment, police said.
Joseph was arrested Thursday after neighbors saw him entering a backyard on West Arch Street, police said.
Joseph told police that a relative lived in the home and he was going to work on the yard.
Police checking on Joseph's story found that it was not true and arrested him.
While being interviewed, he told police he had committed a robbery Thursday, arrest reports said. Police reviewed surveillance video from several businesses and connected him to five burglaries, arrest reports said.
Police said they are looking for at least five more suspects in the burglaries.
Joseph was being held Friday at Orient Road Jail with bail set at $76,500.
