Tampa Man Injured In Water Scooter Accident

CLEARWATER - CLEARWATER - A 22-year-old Tampa man was injured today in a water scooter accident off the Courtney Campbell Causeway, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reports.
Jorge Agravante of 10955 Claypit Road, was operating a 1995 Yamaha water scooter at the west end of the causeway about 5:30 p.m. when he struck an unknown object in the water, the report states. Agravante was thrown from the water scooter, tumbling into a water scooter traveling next to his. Both occupants of that scooter were knocked into the water.
Aggravante was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where his condition was not available.
The others, friends of Agravante's, did not require medical treatment.
They were operator Justin Jenkins, 23, of 11427 E. Broadway Ave., Seffner, and passenger Amy Pitts, 19, 10234 Douglas Oaks Circle, Tampa.
