MIAMI - Hundreds of fans bid on urinals, chunks of concrete and plastic orange seats Saturday, hoping to take a little piece of the Orange Bowl home with them.
The 70-year-old stadium was home to the University of Miami Hurricanes for more than 60 years and the Miami Dolphins for roughly 20 years.
It also hosted President Kennedy's speech after the invasion of the Bay of Pigs.
Items on the auction block included street signs and a scoreboard, which was priced between $25,000 and $35,000.
John Sims traveled all the way from Tennessee for a piece of memorabilia.
He's hoping to decorate a private bar he's building over his house.
Auction proceeds will go toward the demolition of the stadium, which begins in the next few weeks.
