Roy Continues To Sit After Heated Exchange

ATLANTA - For the third consecutive game, LW Andre Roy watched the action from above.

Roy was a healthy scratch Saturday for what Coach John Tortorella said continued to be disciplinary reasons - although Tortorella is often hesitant to alter a winning lineup - after the two got into a heated argument on the bench last week against Florida.

Following Saturday's morning skate, Roy said he continues to understand why he has not returned to the lineup despite not having missed a game all year before being sat down Tuesday in St. Louis.

"It's my fault," said Roy, who has four goals and seven points in 53 games. "It's me that put myself in this position. I got a little frustrated on the bench. I just have to control myself. I can't do anything besides work hard in practice, and when I do get back in the lineup, keep my emotions in check."

Part of the reason Roy remained out could be the play of Tampa Bay's bottom two lines, which played quality minutes the previous two games, logging between 10 and 15 minutes.

"I think those six forwards have really played well for us, and they need to continue to have to. Even though they are not on the scoring sheet all the time, they still need to chip in occasionally," Tortorella said. "But that game in Nashville on Thursday and the way it was close checking, they did a really good job as far as the zone pressure and taking some pressure off our defense."

QUICK SIGNING: Lightning prospect Kevin Quick, who last week was dismissed from the University of Michigan program for violating team rules, was signed to a professional tryout contract by Tampa Bay's top minor-league affiliate.

The defenseman, a third-round draft pick in 2006 from Salisbury Prep School in Connecticut, had two goals and two assists in 21 games as a freshman with Michigan this season. The 19-year-old passed a physical on Saturday before signing the tryout deal with the Norfolk Admirals. He was not in the lineup for Norfolk's home game against Binghamton.

NUTS AND BOLTS: D Doug Janik was a healthy scratch for the seventh consecutive game. ... The start of the second period was delayed to replace a pane of glass along the boards. ... D Brad Lukowich left the game in the second period with an undisclosed lower body injury and did not return.
