A Polk County Sheriff's Office deputy was suspended without pay after she was arrested today on charges of battering her ex-girlfriend and falsely imprisoning her, said sheriff's spokeswoman Carrie Rodgers.

Lara Dix
Polk deputies were called to the Lake Wales home of Lara Dix's ex-girlfriend, 19-year-old Ashley Moore, on Sunday, according to an arrest report. Dix, 27, is accused of grabbing Moore by the shirt, forcing her to go outside and then sitting on her until she agreed to talk.
Moore told deputies she came home Sunday and found her room ransacked. She called Dix to confront her and told her to come over and clean up the mess, she said. Moore told deputies she recanted her demand that Dix come over and clean up, but Dix came anyway. The two had dated for two years and recently broke up, the report states.
The women argued, and Dix grabbed a necklace and ripped it off Moore's neck, according to the report, then pulled Moore by her shirt, forcing outside, and sat on her, not allowing her to move until she agreed to talk.
Dix was hired full-time at the sheriff's office in 2002 as a detention support specialist and became a deputy assigned to the central county jail in November 2003.
She was taken to the Polk County Jail today on charges of felony false imprisonment and domestic battery and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.
