My first game at Al Lang came during my sophomore year of college. I played hookie from classes and work to spend the day in St. Pete. I had pizza on the pier and watched batting practice from 2nd ave. I even caught a Quinton McCracken BP homerun ball. I spent the game sprawled out across the aluminum bleachers high up on the first base side eating sunflower seeds and talking baseball with two guys visiting from North Carolina. It was what spring training was supposed to be if you are a fan.

My favorite memories of Al Lang Stadium are from the late 80's watching the Cardinal's Ozzie Smith, Vince Coleman, Willie McGee, Terry Pendleton, etc, all while being entertained by the singing hot dog salesman.
