CRYSTAL RIVER - A woman working with her son at his convenience store was shot in the abdomen after a struggle with the gunman, Citrus County Sheriff's Office said.
Sohur Mohareb suffered the wound at 7:38 p.m. Sunday and was flown to Tampa General Hospital.
Mohareb and her son, who owns Marina Mart at W. Gulf to Lake Highway, were working at the store when the suspect entered, demanded money and flashed a gun, deputies said.
The owner struggled with the man and the gun discharged, striking Mohareb.
The man left in a red or burgundy mid-size American-made car, deputies said. The victim's son threw an ashtray at the car, shattering the rear window.
The man left with an undisclosed amount of money. He is a white male with a dark moustache, in his 40s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and 200 to 230 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a green Army fatigue jacket, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, a red cap and a black mask. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. If anyone should see him or have any information, please call 9-1-1 or (352) 726-1121.
