TAMPA - Businesses are open again and traffic is back to normal after a natural gas leak at Gandy and West Shore boulevards this morning.
A Spivey construction contractor, working on a road project, struck and broke a buried 3-inch natural gas line near the intersection, said Capt. Bill Wade of Tampa Fire Rescue.
Some businesses were evacuated and several lanes of Gandy and West Shore were closed until People's Gas could turn off the gas, Wade said. The process took about 40 minutes, and the area was back to normal about 12:10 p.m.
