PORT RICHEY - A broken water distribution pipe prompted city officials today to issue a precautionary boil-water notice for about 25 homes in the Westport subdivision.
The boil-water notice is for municipal drinking water customers on Tradewinds Drive in the housing subdivision west of U.S. 19, said Patrick Stewart, the city's utility director.
Those affected by the water notice are advised to bring water for drinking or cooking to a rolling boil for about one minute, or use bottled water.
Stewart said the notice will remain in effect until tests confirm the water is safe to drink.
