Berry Fest Tickets Available At Sweetbay Supermarkets

PLANT CITY - Discounted tickets for the Florida Strawberry Festival are as close as the neighborhood grocery.

More than 80 Sweetbay supermarkets in the region are selling tickets for the advance purchase price of $8 for people 13 or older and $4 for children 6 to 12. Children 5 or younger get in free. Tickets purchased at the gate are $10 and $5, respectively.

This is the first time the festival has offered tickets at an outside retailer on such a large scale, festival general manager Patsy Brooks said. In another first, Sweetbay will offer the discounted tickets through the end of the festival. Previously, ticket discounts ended with the start of the festival.

The ticket sales are part of a promotion by the grocery chain and the festival, she said. The promotion includes banners in the stores that promote the festival and the strawberry industry, she said.

Select Sweetbays in Charlotte, DeSoto, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota and Sumter counties are participating in the advance ticket sales.

Advance tickets also are available online or at the festival ticket office, 2209 W. Oak Ave., through Feb. 27. The ticket office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. It also will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 23 and 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 24.

This year's festival is Feb. 28 through March 9.
