KISSIMMEE - Jenny Moorer scored 18 points and Arielle Jadlowski added 12 Tuesday night, leading Seffner Christian to a 46-29 victory against Kissimmee Heartland Christian in the Class 1A-Region 3 semifinals.
In Saturday's region final, the Crusaders (15-10) will face Sarasota Christian (23-5), a 49-24 winner Tuesday against Sarasota Out-of-Door Academy that avenged the Blazers' overtime loss in the district final.
Seffner Christian got off to a slow start, playing to a 6-6 tie in the first half and taking a 17-16 lead at the half thanks to Moorer's shot at the buzzer. Moorer scored seven points in the third quarter as the Crusaders overwhelmed the Warriors (14-9) by a 16-4 margin in the period. Seffner Christian outscored Heartland Christian 13-9 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
"This is the first time we've ever made it this far," Moorer said. "Everything just fell into place for us."
Seffner Christian held a 35-21 advantage in rebounding.
Crusaders coach Greg Fawbush's decision to play schools from higher classifications during the season apparently paid off.
"Our season has been pretty different because of our schedule," Fawbush said. "We've played 2A, 3A and 4A schools all year.
"These girls have prepared all year for this." Fawbush said. "We want to go one game further."
