ST. PETERSBURG - A report that a mother pulled a gun at a bus stop Tuesday evening after learning her daughter had been struck while on the bus could not be substantiated, police said.
Patrol officers were called to 14th Avenue North and Highland Street about 5:10 p.m., according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. They learned that before a school bus stopped at that location, some children on the bus were engaging in "senseless'' behavior and one boy struck a girl, police said.
They were told that after the girl got off at the stop, the mother spoke with the bus driver and reached in her purse to retrieve a cell phone and a child on the school bus yelled that it was a gun, so the bus driver drove to a different location and summoned police, authorities said.
