Illuminated Knight Parade Rerouted For Lightning Game

TAMPA - It's pucks over pirates.
The Krewe of Sant' Yago Illuminated Knight Parade will have a new route – and it will affect businesses and families who planned to view the festivities from Channelside Bay Plaza.
Parade floats will line up on Meridian Street but will not go past Channelside.
Tampa police say the change was prompted by a Tampa Bay Lightning game at the Forum. Police say blocking the streets around the Forum would cause too many problems for people trying to get to the hockey game.
The Knight Parade will travel down Nuccio Parkway and then to Seventh Avenue in Ybor City.
Kirk Johnson, the manager of Hooters, said he's disappointed the parade won't be passing by.
"It is a little disappointing, but I feel like we're still getting business, and it would be a lot more if the parade went by our location," he said.
