Deputies seized 36 roosters, plus cash and drugs, at a possible rooster-fighting operation in Wahneta.

Polk County deputies arrested three people today involved in rooster fighting, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
Agricultural deputies began investigating the incident about noon at 538 Ridge Acres, Wahneta. Deputies also seized 36 roosters, about $1,600 and 263 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
Deputies charged Adolfo Portillo, 23, of Lake Wales with fighting and baiting animals (attendance) and unauthorized possession of an identification card.
Pedro Cruz, 60, of Winter Haven was charged with fighting and baiting animals and seven counts of possession of equipment used in the fighting and baiting of animals.
Roque Cruz, 27, of Winter Haven was charged with trafficking more than 200 grams of methamphetamine, fighting and baiting animals (attendance) and 25 counts of possession of equipment used in the fighting and baiting of animals.
