More than 1,000 sailors and 170 boats from 30 states will compete on Tampa Bay out of St. Petersburg today through Sunday in the Sperry Top-Sider National Offshore One-Design Regatta.
Sailing races for 18 classes of boats are on the agenda. One of the top competitors is Tampa's Mike Carroll, who has four first-place finishes and one third-place in the Melges 32-foot class, making him one of the most successful skippers ever in the long-running competition.
