"The Great Debaters" was named best film of 2007 at the 39th annual NAACP Image Awards on Thursday evening.

The inspiring film about a black debate team in the 1930s also earned best actor and actress honors for director Denzel Washington and co-star Jurnee Smollett.

The presentation of awards, which honor projects and individuals that promote diversity in the arts, literature, motion pictures, recording and television, was telecast from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. D.L. Hughley was the host.

Actress Accused Of Shoplifting

Bai Ling's good looks and eccentric outfits have frequently put her picture in celebrity magazines, but that doesn't mean she can take the magazines for free.

The Chinese actress was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of shoplifting two celebrity magazines and two packets of batteries at Los Angeles International Airport.

Ling has appeared in such films as "The Crow," "Anna and the King" and in the TV series "Lost."

Boston Singer Objects To Huckabee's Use Of Song

The chief songwriter and founder of the band Boston has more than a feeling that he's being ripped off by Mike Huckabee.

In a letter to the Republican presidential hopeful, Tom Scholz complains that Huckabee is using his 1970s smash hit song "More Than a Feeling" without his permission. A former member of the band, Barry Goudreau, has appeared with Huckabee at campaign events.

Scholz, who said Goudreau left the band more than 25 years ago after a three-year stint, objects to the implication that the band and one of its members has endorsed Huckabee's candidacy.

"Boston has never endorsed a political candidate, and with all due respect, would not start by endorsing a candidate who is the polar opposite of most everything Boston stands for," wrote Scholz, adding that he is supporting Democratic Sen. Barack Obama.

Divorce Hearing To Go Into 2nd Week

The divorce hearing of Paul McCartney and Heather Mills looks like it will stretch into a second week, after a judge allotted extra time for the couple's court case.

The hearing was scheduled to end Friday, but officials at London's Royal Courts of Justice said the case before Justice Hugh Bennett would continue Monday.

Mills and McCartney separated in 2006 after four years of marriage and have since traded blows in the media while trying, and failing, to agree on divorce terms.

The hearing was called to decide on Mills' share of the former Beatle's fortune, estimated at as much as $1.6 billion. Media reports suggest that McCartney has offered his wife about $50 million and that she is seeking at least double that amount.
