MILWAUKEE - Jerel McNeal scored 17 points and Ousmane Barrow scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Marquette to a 72-54 win against No. 22 Pittsburgh on Friday night.
Marquette (18-6, 8-5 Big East) went on a 17-0 run early in the second half to take control and cruised to the victory.
Pittsburgh (19-6, 7-5) wasted the return of junior guard Levance Fields, who had missed a dozen games with a broken left foot. Fields played 20 minutes, scoring four points on 1-for-7 shooting. Sam Young scored 18 points to lead Pitt.
Women
NORTH CAROLINA 90, VIRGINIA 82: Erlana Larkins had 21 points, 18 rebounds and one key late steal as No. 3 North Carolina (23-3, 10-0 ACC) held off host Virginia (18-7, 6-3).
