PALM HARBOR - Pinellas Sheriff's narcotics detectives swooped down on a Palm Harbor house Tuesday morning that they said was being used to grow hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of marijuana.
Timothy E. Stacy
Arrested at 85 South Canal Drive was Timothy E. Stacy, 32, of 4250 Newgate Drive, Holiday. Stacy was charged with trafficking and manufacturing marijuana. He was being held at the Pinellas County Jail on $20,000 bail, jail records show.
Detectives say they found 29 live marijuana plants, and 131 marijuana root balls along with a large amount of harvested marijuana. The more than 136 pounds of plants and harvested marijuana seized have a street value of more than $500,000, Pinellas sheriff's Sgt. Jim Bordner said.
Detectives also seized three firearms, two crossbows and the equipment used to grow the marijuana, Bordner said.
Detectives say Stacy rented the home and converted two rooms for cultivation purposes. Because of the electrical hazard posed by the wiring for the alleged grow operation, Progress Energy representatives were called to inspect the wiring system to see whether it was safe, Bordner said.
As a result of the inspection, electrical power to the home was disconnected, Bordner said.
The narcotics detectives received a tip in January about the house and searched the home today after serving a search warrant, Bordner said.
