TAMPA - Officers responding to a report of shots fired near Ybor City on Monday morning arrested two men in a stolen car with a gun and crack cocaine, police said.
About 12:50 a.m., Tampa police spotted a 1998 Plymouth Breeze near North Nebraska and East Floribraska avenues. The car matched the description of a vehicle in the shooting, so officers checked the license and learned the car had been reported stolen in Pasco County on Feb. 11.
Police said they boxed in the car at North Nebraska and East Third avenues, and found passenger Issac Flowers, 19, of Clearwater, holding a loaded 9 mm Beretta pistol under his leg.
Officers said the driver, Jerome Lamar Joe, also 19, of Holiday, had a screwdriver.
Police charged the men with felony grand theft auto, felony auto burglary and possession of burglary tools. Joe also was charged with possession of cocaine and being a habitual traffic offender. He was being held at Orient Road Jail. Bail was set at $10,000.
Flowers also was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and warrants from Pinellas County related to violating probation on reckless driving and other charges. He was being held at Orient Road Jail. Bail was set at $11,513.
