TAMPA - A fire at a Palm Harbor condo Tuesday night has sent an older woman to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
A neighbor of 71-year-old Rita Lewis was taking out the trash about 8:30 p.m. this evening when he saw smoke billowing from Lewis' home at 2971 Bonaventure Circle No. 202, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies evacuated residents from eight neighboring units and directed traffic while firefighters fought the blaze, the sheriff's office said.
Lewis was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital.
The cause of the fire is still being determined but does not appear suspicious, authorities said.
