TAMPA -- A man stopped at a traffic light at North Florida and West Waters avenues Tuesday was startled by a homeless man who pounded on the driver's window with a knife, a police report states.
The homeless man, Steven Dennis Moses, 20, had robbed someone of $5 at a Laundromat shortly before trying to steal a ride from the motorist, Tampa police said.
The motorist, Wilfredo Vega, 21, told police the man banged on the window of his 2000 Buick about 6 a.m. and said, "I'll kill you! Let me in, man, I'm on crack," the report states.
Vega quickly drove west on Waters Avenue to escape and found two officers at the nearby Laundromat investigating the other robbery. After he related his encounter, the officers searched the area and found Moses, whom Vega identified as his attacker.
Moses was held without bail at Orient Road Jail on Tuesday, charged with felony armed robbery and felony attempted armed carjacking, records show.
