SANFORD - A Jacksonville man accused of fatally shooting a man during a road rage incident after the Daytona 500 last year was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison after pleading no contest.

Shortly before his trial was to begin, David Paul Edwards withdrew his plea of not guilty Monday to second-degree murder with a firearm and pleaded no contest to second-degree murder with possession of a firearm in the February 2007 death of Eric Houk. Two others also were charged in the shooting.

Authorities say Houk cut off the car Edwards was traveling in. The men got out of their cars and an argument escalated into a physical fight. Edwards later fired at Houk twice, hitting him at least once in the stomach.
