BAYONET POINT - The answers may lie within the black Converse shoes.
A 62-year-old man told the Pasco County Sheriff's Office that someone broke in to his home early Sunday, and more than a dozen weapons, including a samurai sword and firearms, were stolen.
Michael George Aston of 13322 Brigham Lane said he awoke about 12:15 a.m. and saw a stranger standing in the doorway of his bedroom.
At first, he thought it might be his nephew and called out his name but got no response, a report states.
Aston, who owns an air conditioning business, grabbed a shotgun next to his bed and walked into his living room and discovered his sliding glass door ajar.
He then spotted someone running from his backyard and heard the clanging of metal.
A pair of black Converse shoes was left inside his home. Aston had never seen them before, the report states.
Aston told deputies he likely couldn't identify the thief because he only saw him running from the back.
The shoes were taken by a deputy as evidence.
According to the report, the weapons were stolen from places that "only someone with prior knowledge would know their location."
A bottle of tequila and a crystal flask also were stolen, but the tequila bottle was found outside and also marked as evidence.
