TAMPA -- A fund has been set up for Hannah Werner, a 6-year-old Tampa girl who remains in the intensive care unit at All Children's Hospital after falling into the pool of a friend of her mother's in St. Petersburg.
Anyone who would like to contribute can do so at any Washington Mutual bank branch by walking in and mentioning the fund, a Washington Mutual spokeswoman said. The fund is in the name of Hannah's mother, Jennifer.
On Feb. 10, Werner fell into a half-full pool at 434 Lewis Blvd. S.E., said police and Jennifer Werner. Hannah's 8-year-old sister, Sarah, pulled her out and called 911 from the house phone, their mother said. Both girls attend Heritage Elementary School in New Tampa.
Hannah has Aicardi syndrome, a rare seizure disorder, Jennifer Werner said. A magnetic resonance imaging scan showed brain damage from the fall into the pool, and only recently has Hannah been able to breathe on her own, though with difficulty, Jennifer Werner said.
