LAKE BUENA VISTA - A vacation at SeaWorld Orlando ended with a real Florida wildlife experience for one tourist.
Rachel Port of Atlanta found two baby river otters on a walkway at her Lake Buena Vista hotel. Port says other hotel guests saw the otters but kept moving. She was worried someone would pick up the
animals as pets, so she called the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Central Florida.
The otters are about 10 weeks old. Officials say drought conditions likely lowered water levels around the otters' nest, allowing them to escape. Otter mothers usually create protected dens surrounded by water to keep the babies safe until they learn to swim.
The center will keep the otters until they are at least 6 months old and able to take care of themselves.
