MADEIRA BEACH - After investigating a 14-year-old girl's report that a man tried to lure her to his van Wednesday, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office does not think a crime was committed.
The Pinellas Park Middle School student reported she had just gotten off her school bus at 140th Avenue and Vivian Drive about 5:15 p.m. when she saw a man get out of his van, sheriff's officials said.
She said the man called her to come to him and that she screamed and ran away, sheriff's officials said. The sheriff's office initially categorized it an attempted abduction; this afternoon, authorities said it appears no crime was committed.
Crimes Against Children detectives still want to talk to the man, described as white, in his 30s, brown eyes, thin, 5 feet 8 inches tall and balding with curly gray-brown hair in the back.
