Regarding "Gonzmarts Quit Knights Over Vulgar Gasparilla DJ" (front page, Feb. 19):
I commend the Gonzmart brothers for their decision to resign from The Krewe of the Knights of Sant' Yago. I do not believe they made their decision without adequate consideration. Rather, I believe they reacted to inappropriate behavior the same way their parents might have reacted. That old saying, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree," is certainly true in this instance.
I am sure their Krewe is extremely important to them. The many beautiful Krewe paintings that adorn their restaurant attest to their love and loyalty to the Krewe. I believe that they made a tough and difficult decision because they are community activists with a certain moral turpitude that is often nonexistent in today's society. They understand that overlooking what they consider inappropriate behavior would make them guilty by association.
Kudos brothers. Your parents would be proud.
