TAMPA -- An Air Force medic is accused of striking his 15-month-old son's head on the edge of a bathtub, records show.
James Robert Faulkner Jr., 24, was released from Orient Road Jail today on $2,000 bail. Tampa police charged him Thursday with felony child abuse.
Faulkner is assigned to MacDill Air Force Base, according to Air Force spokeswoman Lt. Rebecca Heyse. She declined to comment further.
Police said a family member at an apartment at 5055 S. Dale Mabry Highway called 911 about 8:30 p.m. Thursday after Faulkner had been bathing the child.
Faulkner told police the boy's crying caused him to lose his temper and that he shoved the child into the tub, causing the boy to strike his head, an affidavit states.
The boy had a bump and a bruise, the affidavit states.
