Bulls' 2008 Schedule Features Two Thursday Night Games

TAMPA - Raymond James Stadium's unavailability because of the Atlantic Coast Conference championship may have prohibited the University of South Florida from getting a Thursday night ESPN December home game against Rutgers.

However, the Bulls will still be a fixture on ESPN's Thursday night telecasts.

USF will have at least three ESPN appearances on its 2008 Big East Conference schedule, highlighted by two Thursday night games, including the school's first home Thursday night ESPN appearance.

USF opens Big East play at home against Pittsburgh on Thurs., Oct. 2 on ESPN. The Bulls also will appear on another coveted Thursday night ESPN slot when they visit Cincinnati on Oct. 30.

USF's season finale at West Virginia on Sat., Dec. 6, also will be televised on ESPN or ESPN2. It's the second time in three years USF will end the regular season at West Virginia and the third consecutive season USF will finish on the road.

The USF-Rutgers game, that the league wanted for Thurs., Dec. 4, instead will be played Sat., Nov. 15. The game is not currently scheduled for ESPN, but that could change.

The two Thursday night games will present the Bulls with two short weeks: USF visits N.C. State five days before playing Pittsburgh and USF visits Louisville five days before visiting Cincinnati. The Bulls also have three open dates in the season's final 10 weeks.

The Big East will release its entire schedule Monday.
