TAMPA -- Cosey Coleman, who was an offensive guard on the Buccaneers' winning Super Bowl team, is being held on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge after being accused of hitting a woman in the eye with a box of candy.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested Coleman, 29, of Tampa, at his home about 8 p.m. Thursday after the mother of his children called 911.
The woman, Rernitral Johnson, 33, does not live with Coleman, the sheriff's office said.
Coleman was visiting her Thursday evening when the two began to argue and he struck her in the left eye with a yellow candy box he was holding, an arrest affidavit states.
Florida Department of Law Enforcement records show Tampa police arrested Coleman on a domestic battery charge in October 2002.
He entered a pretrial intervention program and was not prosecuted, court records state.
Coleman played for the Buccaneers from 2000 to 2004, including time as an offensive guard in Super Bowl XXXVII in San Diego, according to the National Football League.
Afterward he played for the Cleveland Browns for two years, according to the NFL.
Jail records list him as unemployed.
