LAKELAND -- A man long sought by Port St. Lucie police on charges that he impregnated and then forced a home abortion on a 15-year-old girl was arrested Wednesday in Lakeland, where he had been hiding, authorities said.
Papouche Edmond
Acting on a tip, members of a federal marshals task force arrested Papouche Edmond, 21, at an apartment complex on West 14th Street in Lakeland, according to arrest documents.
Edmond is from Fort Pierce, and it wasn't clear how long he had been in Polk County.
He was booked into Polk County Jail and then transferred to the custody of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, where he was being held without bail.
Edmond is accused of impregnating a 15-year-old girl he met after a middle school dance in Fort Pierce in September and then forcing her to have an abortion that sent her to a hospital emergency room with heavy bleeding, according to police documents.
