The Florida National Scenic Trail is 1,400 miles long. It extends from Miami to the Panhandle.
Jim Kern founded the Florida Trail Association in 1964 to establish the trail.
The Ocala Trail, a 70-mile section, became the first portion of the Florida Trail to be completed in 1966.
Hikers can enjoy 80 habitats in Florida's tropical and semitropical ecosystems along the trail.
