Lehtinen, Stars Top Oilers Again

Published: February 23, 2008

DALLAS - Jere Lehtinen scored two goals, Marty Turco stopped 20 shots, and the Dallas Stars maintained their mastery against the Edmonton Oilers with a 5-2 victory on Friday night to sweep the four-game season series.

The Stars are 10-2 against the Oilers during the past three seasons and 22-4-2 at home against the Oilers since moving to Dallas in 1993.

Turco improved to 15-4 against Edmonton and helped the Stars win for the 10th time in 12 games overall.
Brenden Morrow added a short-handed goal, Loui Eriksson also scored, and Jussi Jokinen contributed two assists for Dallas.

Dustin Penner's power-play goal with 12:01 remaining ended Turco's bid for his 33rd career shutout, and Curtis Glencross added a goal at 14:10 to pull the Oilers to 4-2.

But Mike Modano's empty-netter with 1:59 left, his 17th of the season and 524th of his career, pushed Dallas' lead to 5-2 and closed out the Oilers.

Edmonton has lost three straight overall, allowing 14 goals during that span to further damage their chances of climbing into a Western Conference playoff spot.

The Oilers made a goalie change after two periods, going with Dwayne Roloson for the final 20 minutes.
